Hey guys, I'm wanting to walk to Lake Balmoral for some fly fishing. Was wondering if this could be easily done in a day walk and if anyone could recommend me the best route. I figured I could cut across Lake Mackenzie seeing as its at -5m (is this low enough?). Any advice would be great.

still too high to cross ,
its 7km to Little Throne, the pad starts behind the concrete square 200m west over the bridge.

If Lake MacKenzie is too full, it's not difficult to walk around its northern shore via Sandy Lake Bay and Pine Marsh Bay. Admittedly when I did the walk - in reverse, from Lake Balmoral to MacKenzie - the water was low, and we could cut across muddy flats. But there's less scrub and forest on that side of the lake than if you try the southern shore via the Explorer Creek "Track" (route).

The hills on the western banks of Lake Balmoral have some unusual forest, which I'd love to explore further one day. Here's a pic,

Ok cool, thanks for the replies. I'll have to go up there soon and check it out. I'll head north along the western shore up towards sandy lake bay and go from there. Will try and report back
