OK strollers, anyone back?
I was too late to head out but in the absence of experience how about the juicy goss, photo's or even just a feeble grunt will do

A fabulous time was had by all however I suspect julafreak and miniskid had the best by far
Weatherwise it was the wettest I have ever experienced in the Cradle reserve ,small creeks were raging torrents and puddles were "tarns"

Thanks to all who came along. A great night in the hut and a great walk. Nice to be dry again though! If Corvus has never seen water like that in the park before, then that must mean we picked one helluva freaky weekend for a walk (again)! Well done to everyone for braving the conditions. I notice on the parks site that Narcissus jetty is closed due to being underwater... I think it can stop raining now... please!

Thanks for the heap Simon, I just got very excited when I saw #s 62-65. Recognised the 2 bigger PPs on the left, got a photo off the wall which my husband took there prob 45-50 years ago, and checked; they'd hardly changed when I first saw them about 25 years ago, and they still haven't! Athol's was taken from a very low viewpoint looking up, so perspective different, but it sure confirms how slow growing they are.

It looks to have been a wonderful weekend , with some magical moments, despite "interesting" weather. (What a contrast with where I've just come back from, starting off with 31o followed by 2 dust storms). Looking forward to reading more accounts.

By the way, what on earth is the subject of the colourful abstract art in SK?

Great you could come along. What an introduction to Tasmanian bushwalking!!! Bad weather and enthusiatic, if not always tuneful, singing. I look forward to when you can next join us.

As usual, thanks for the photos Sthughes. They capture the atmospherre well and the of the view we got from Little Horn.

It was fun to have such a large and keen party. I really enjoyed the walk.

The only downer for me was that when I got home I think I know why my left foot got a bit wet. The right foot was wet becase I stuck it in a deep stream. The left boot has a great rip in it where a piece of quartz has neatly sliced through the leather. And just as I had worn them in. All those blisters over the last few months for what?

Great pictures (and videos) from both of you guys. Thanks for putting them up. I thoroughly enjoyed the walk - even the rain and wading yesterday. The good company helps too. But walking in the snow on Saturday afternoon was just magic, I reckon.

Looks and sounds like we had a really good time except for the Strollers that poo... the bed and found the need to arise at the sparrows fart they were obviously uncomfortable or just wanted to pay back the downstairs crew

well, i had a great time...and everyone is asking me about it!!!!

the eye is changing colour each day...i went ot bed on sunday with a white eyelid and a swollen purple brow, woke up with a closed purple eye - quasimodo would have been ecstatic about finding his sole mate! then today the swelling has gone down but the bruise is rolling down my face...i get sympathetic looks from people...telling them i walked into a door post is funny! not really!
but i had to make a detour into the office to pick up my sunnies
right got to go, my colleague is rapping on the door!

Hi all, I’d like to thank everyone for a really enjoyable weekend. Combination of great company, making new friends, fun entertainment and a waterproof tent made for a memorable trip. Oh and did I mention I managed to keep dry feet right to the end?!? Dont ask me how, coz I know I can’t walk on water!! Must have been from following Miniskids’ nimble footwork all the way back. What a champ!
I did take a couple of pictures but they weren’t great; too distorted from water on the lens. All the other pictures I’ve seen so far look awesome, great work people!

Looks like yer's had a good trip and some drunken fun, though its a bit difficult to see much inside the hut. Some nice wintery shots around the mountain though, suprised to see some deep drifts still about here and there...

It was fun and not as "drunken" (some were stone cold) as you think more just a relaxing of inhibitions which is not done enough in todays environment,just a joyous non critical sharing of human feelings.
The walk in was really good ,out well getting blown off the boardwalk was a reinforcement of my choice to " do the back end" rather than attempt Hansons Peak

Hi all, got back home on Sunday (after 2 detours due to fallen trees), to find a tree had taken out the powerline into our house - only got hooked back up lunchtime today (wed.)
Miniskid and I had a great time thanks to a great bunch of people and some memorable conditions. On the drive home, Miniskid said the highlights were all the fun in the hut, and climbing Little Horn. He actually surprised me climbing Little Horn, I was prepared to let him start and see how he went, and turn back if necessary, but apart from a leg up from Hal, and a lift down a couple of the bigger steps, he was on his own. He confided that he was a bit nervous on top, but I explained that that was a good thing (shows that the self preservation instincts are intact )
It was great to meet some new Strollers, hope you all come again.
Geez - How was the walk out? We lost Craigs footsteps at Twisted Lakes turn off - he must have gone over Hansons Peak.
There was certainly a LOT more water on Twisted Lakes/Lake Hanson track than in July - it was good to get back to the car
and the bag of dry clothes (and the hot chips thanks Cyn).
Lyn - did you find your top OK? - thanks for lending it to Liam.

im amazed you brought a full size guitar! i always wish there was one at pelion hut, maybe keep it in a cupboard, leave a few packets of spare strings.. = good times.

Given the choice I wouldnt do it again on that particular walk. All my gear was soaked because with the guitar in pack I couldn't use pack liner or fully close the packs roll top. BUT....I am really glad i took it in...great fun. I will be taking my steel string on the next strollers walk i rekon...but carry in rather than in pack.

oh i forgot to email you those pictures! My camera pulled up well. Of course i never used it on day two however. It has been stupidly wet in the past however and only fogged up..

Thanks heaps guys for a great time. Enjoyed the photos from sthughes, Spectator - no, no, Speculator & Brett. Great memories. My hat goes off to the "EverReady Bunny", Miniskid. Well done, Liam, it was great to have you along showing us the way & handing out the glo-sticks. Fun! Added to the atmosphere of Joe's acoustic talents. The dedication that man shows in the pursuit of providing us with the evening's entertainment was definitely appreciated by all-us-vocally-challenged-revellers!! Thanks, Joe. Julafreak, glad we could turn on the snow for your very first experience in such a special place. You have lovely photos to show for it.

It was a pleasure to share the weekend with everyone, meet such fun & interesting people & put faces to avatars...it wasn't a bogus internet dating service after all Phew!

Finally, my thanks to Corvus for all the organising. Your enthusiasm was infectious!

Hi Lyndoor, Glad you enjoyed the walk.
Yes, I left your jumper on top of the front right side wheel in a plastic bag ( Bronzy Landcruiser). Fairly big clearance there, if it was there when you got back you would have seen it.
I NEEDto replace it now I know you did'nt get it (so I can sleep). I know it was red, please PM size, style etc and I will go shopping for another.
I can't imagine anyone nicking it in the time between you and I getting back to the carpark - a mystery!

Thanks Corvus, I will chase it up. It was a windy day, it has blown off, Lynn did'nt see it and perhaps thought I had forgotten to leave it (which I nearly did, Lady Mcguyver reversed back up the road for me ). Mystery solved, now to recover the goods.
