Hello all
I have been a lurker here for quite a while, enjoying the discussions and wonderful photos, but now I have a question. I am interested in the various old huts and remains on Mt Wellington, and was wondering if anyone knows where the ruins of Musk Hut are?

I reckon
this article would be of great interest to you if you haven't found it already.
There's another photo
here.
I don't know the location though.

Gotta love Google.
http://www.jandmgrist.com/indexh.htmThat's a great resource - check the
Climbers Guide to the Organ Pipes PDF file, dated 1969.
Then there's
THIS pdf file with hand drawn maps, from the 1920's.

I haven't found any accurate info on the location of it, but here is the picture of the hut.

There's another good photo in one of the PDF files I linked, along with a description of what remains.

Thanks Adam
I have googled also and found pretty much what you did - it was actually the John Grist article that sparked my interest in this hut in particular. It looks so fantastic in the photo it would be nice to find what's left of it. I guess I will just keep poking around old tracks and see if I can find anything that looks like the chimney described in that article.
And I absolutely loved the diary with the maps! Wonderful stuff.

Have you tried
contacting them?
As his
PDF file says,
For example, the large beehive-type rock chimney at Musk Hut is still in good condition, and is quite a sight to behold.
Cheers!
