The walk from Ada to Antimony will take around 4 hours. The track as far as far as Talleh Lagoons is fairly well marked (although you turn south just before the Lagoons) although it is a bit indistinct in the vicinity of Christie Lagoon. After you turn south past , the track becomes even more indistinct in parts and is marked only by cairns in places. Once you get to Antimony, it is cross country to Silver. If you are inexperienced, I wouldn't recommend it as one of your first walks; I would probably content myself with walks into the Christies system or Fanny etc until I had built up a bit of experience.

It can get cold out that way overnight at any time of year so a good sleeping bag is required (mine is rated down to about -20degC). We headed off in a flurry of snow in early December 09 but luckily, the weather improved from there. We walked most of the way in through a light drizzle but it fined up after we arrived at Antimony.

I will post a pic or three over the weekend.

Probably about 2.5-3 hours to Talleh Lagoons; perhaps another 45 mins to Fanny. I have camped at Fanny and in the Christies system but I have never camped at Talleh Lagoons; however, I have no doubt that you could find a spot for a single tent somewhere in the vicinity.

The dodgiest bit I reckon is finding the turn off to Antimony. The first time I went in, I wasn't paying attention and walked clean past it. Took about 30 minutes to realise too.Once you are at Lake Antimony the walk to Silver is fast and easy - just follow the shoreline of Antimony to the creek and then follow the creek. it's only about 20 minutes from the hut, maybe less. I think this is a good destination for a beginner. Just make sure you have a map and compass and a friend with you.

Good phone service on Augusta dam but didn't take phone walking.
Talleh lagoons can be quite good as can Christy' s lagoon. The small ponds before Christy's and downstream from it are also worthwhile.
There may be service on the high point before and after Christys. :)

Hey there

Was out at Silver 2 days ago, there is intermittent phone reception at Antimony hut n around Silver
The turn off to Antimony was reasonably marked out, if u know its coming
You might get a bit bushwakked headin through the last km of forest to the hut though
Take your mozzie equipment

There certainly are, great places to camp at both. If you do a search for Talleh Lagoons or Lake Fanny on the forum you will find there have been a number of posts about them.
