Lake Myrtle Track

Hi All
How well marked is the lake Myrtle Track from the Meston end ? John Chapman's notes state that as the track sidles under Ragoona, it is easily lost in some places and cairns mark its location?

The track leaves Meston at a clear track juction and heads steeply uphill on a distinct pad.There is a patch a you reach the top of the hill where it's a bit indistinct but easy enough to keep track of.
Further on towards Myrtle its marked by enough cairns to be easily navigated.

I agree with ff, if you keep your eyes open it is pretty straightforwards, that said last time I was there I met 2 groups of walkers who had managed to lose the track coming in from the lake Bill end and spent a few hours bush bashing down to Meston.

Yep, done that in reverse from Meston to Myrtle

So please don't follow my example. Note to self: read notes and map more thoroughly.
Next time I manage to get back there I'll walk it properly.

Um? I would be more tempted to say the track goes up and around a saddle on the Northern side of Ragoona if coming from Myrtle to Meston and in the reverse it climbs up from Meston and then drops steadily around Mount Ragoona to Lake Myrtle. It is apart from the small section FF refers to (actually easier to spot the correct path coming from Meston than the other way) easy to follow. There are at least two possible approaches to Mount Ragoona but they head initially straight for the mountain so you should not be confused by these cains.
