Has any one done the North East Highlands Track as mentioned in Wild Jun 2009. Is it worth doing or is it a mess of logging coupes. Anybody have some more detailed track notes.

The section over the Rattler Range is pretty nice. Lots of big pristine myrtle forest . Route is only roughly marked at best , some sections are unmarked, check with Lesley Nicklason of Friends of Blue Tier. Basically you drive from Ringarooma to Ralph's Falls picnic area on C428, take the walking track to Cash's Gorge lookout and cross the gully on to the Rattler Range. The good forest starts about an hour in from the lookout. Some button grassy and scrubby sections at first. Keep to the crest of the range where possible, and you will come out at the Star of Peace end of Rattler where forest roads will take you down to the Mt Paris dam road and Weldborough. The other parts of the trail go from Weldborough to Blue Tier and Groom river, ending at Hall's Falls. I have not done this part yet. A car shuttle would obviously be handy. cheers, Bill
