Maff Cater's hut and Dudley's hut

Postby Mafeking09 » Wed 14 Apr, 2010 11:04 am

Hi All. I was wondering if anyone has any info or images of MAff Cater's hut near the Vale of Belvoir. It was called Sunshine Hut and was very run down. I heard recently a new hut has been built nearby by someone called Dudley. Is this right? I knew MAff well. He was my Great Uncle.

It lies within the Vale of Belvoir Conservation Area... There has also been a plan of management written for it - I would suggest that you contact the local Ranger at Cradle Mountain - let them know your relationship with the hut and I am sure that they can supply you with more information (and images) from the Parks Information Management System. The photo below came from the system

PS - its not in my patch but there doesn't seem to be any other "assets" nearby (Dudley's building/hut?). That may just be that it hasn't been recorded as yet

YEs, I saw Dudley's hut mentioned on Kosciuszko huts site but was nothing there last time I visited about 10 years ago.

It might also be worth getting in touch with the Tasmanian Land Conservancy:
