Boat access to Lake Gordon?

Thu 10 Nov, 2022 7:52 am

I heard that a recent trip had to be abandoned as the boat couldn't be launched from the Clear Hill Rd boat ramp - too much mud and too many logs in the long distance from the ramp to the water. Does anybody know any viable alternatives? Thanks for any info.
Edit: For boats, I mean, rather than using kayaks or adding a few days to the already tough walk.

I've found the boat ramp that accesses Ragged Basin, 9 km along the Gordon River Rd west of Scotts Peak Rd. I'm not liking the look of the extra concentration of submerged trees. :( But it looks from the State Aerial Photo and ESRI imagery that a road has been put in for an extra half a km or so to access the lower water level. Does anyone know of the current status of the road and ramp? Thanks.
Edit: or know of someone who might know? I've tried Parks and the Pedder Wilderness Lodge.

The best boat access is from the Gordon Dam, but that means a longer drive and a longer boat rirde, assuming this is for Pokana Bay and The Spires. There are at least three access points I've visited between that and Clear Hill Rd, including Island Rd, but there are no guarantees as to conditions of either the roads or the launching spots.
