Anyone ever ski'd Coal Hill - Little Sugarloaf?

As per the title - is there any record of anyone ever being crazy enough to drag skis up to Coal Hill and over to Little Sugarloaf?

Seems like with even a relatively moderate snow dump those vast, flat, clear slopes would be a lot of fun.

Of course, getting up Coal Hill with skis would be all sorts of miserable. But people have done sillier things... ;-)

I look forward to the trip report. Are you thinking via the Cuvier Shelf or direct from Lake Petrarch? Have heard the direct route from Lake Petrarch is "scrubby".

Heheh, maybe one day ;-)

Would be direct from Lake Petrarch. Did the trip downhill over the weekend (hence having the idea in my head) and yeah, no lack of scrub along the way... really steep and quite tight through the myrtle beech just off Coal Hill's eastern face. Getting skis through that would be, umm, interesting.

Rest of the route is manageable, just tough and tedious.

Yep Ben's done many of couloirs around Cradle and the like. He and Shaun Mittwollen were the crazies who 'skiied' Federation a few years, which is pretty well the most insane thing I've ever heard of in the realms of 'recreating in the Tasmanian wilderness'.

Skiing down Little Sugarloaf wouldn't be anywhere near that insane. Getting skis there, though, would be in a similar league ;-)

Trying to remember ... I once FBed a photo of a heavily snow-clad Goulds Sugarloaf from ... errr, I think it was Gell ... and all the skiers were drooling, but only one person mentioned someone who'd done it ... maybe Grant Dixon? I know he has done a lot of back country skiing out there.
