I stayed at Echo Point one night on about show week in early October a couple of years ago (as part of longer walk). The weather was fantastic - very cold, with snow on the mountains, but sunny and still.
However, October is generally very unstable weather wise. You should be prepared for anything - cold, storms, snow blizzard, hot, sunny. You can get the lot.
Echo Point is a flat easy walk though, so it's a good one to do at any time of year, if you're prepared for the cold. The track can be a bit muddy in places, but that's mostly beyond Echo Point. Between Echo Point and Cynthia Bay, there's less mud (just lots of tree roots to trip over).

I was wondering, and bout the weather, and well Its tasmania, we could get anything.
Thats good that its easy and flat, more of the scouts might be able to come. thanks for the tips!

Keep in mind that the hut at Echo Point is very small, and quite dark (just one small window). There's only 4 bunks (you could fit 2 on each bunk if pushed, but the hut would feel exceptionally crowded). There's a very small table/bench, and not much in the way of seats.
There's a bit of room to pitch a few tents, but again, it would only take a small number of tents to make the area feel very crowded.

From a retired (Scouter ) and a Queens Scout ,nice choice Hut for the leaders tents for the Scouts
Go for it ignore any adverse comments it is a nice wee walk and comparatively sheltered in winter BP eh!!

I heard from this guy I came across while walking the OT yesterday. It was so well heated up at echo point that he woke up in the middle of the night to leave the door ajar to cool it down abit. It rained the entire day.
