which club?

Postby Mavis » Fri 17 Sep, 2010 7:45 pm

I'm new to the Hobart area and would love to get out among it. My problem is that I am a novice walker with a capital N! ...though I would like to think I have reasonable level of fitness. I am looking at joining a club but have heard mixed reviewed about the two main clubs in Hobart. Was wondering if anyone could provide me with some feedback?
Cheers

I am a member of both clubs in Hobart.

Now that the HWC has done away with the manditory overnight training trip I would say they are the better club.
They offer more varied style walks, and walk more often.

In fact it has been over 12 months since I have walked with the Pandani club as the walks they do are quite dull for what I like to do.
They mostly do walks like Gunners Quoin and short trips to the peninsula or like areas.
Nothing to see here.

Fair call Mark. Love to see some more interesting walks on the Pandani program. Maybe you could lead some. Would be more than happy to put your name up there as a potential leader.
Cheers

Haha yeh thanks Andrew.... Good point I guess, rather than bitching about it I could put my hand up and contribute.....

We'll see..... If I put something like Slatters peak, or Shakespeare, Or Stepped Hills as a daywalk, do you think i'd get many takers though??

Nah, just kidding... More a reflection of your idea of "fun" and "interesting" walks. ;-) Sadly it matches my own.

I'm looking forward to it. If we get it done at >1kph I'll be disappointed.

Probably not. The offer is always open for something not quite as challenging or something that combines an opt out point for us oldies.
Cheers
