Paddling the Cracroft and Huon

Postby 392carl » Thu 28 Oct, 2010 10:58 am

Just puting together a trip for the summer and we're thinking we'll head up federation from farmhouse and paddle out the cracroft (from where the track crosses it), down to cracroft crossing and out the Huon to Tahune. I'm just trying to gather information at this stage from anyone who's done it or parts of it.
Main questions are time frame for different sections. How long on the Cracroft, how long on the Huon. What is the gorge on the cracroft like? Able to Portage any tough bits? Log jams prevelant or smooth sailing (won't be sailing just quietly). Where abouts are the worse log jams? Further up or lower down... Any info would be really helpful. Thanks very much.

(Using Alpaca rafts. This is probably an important factor in calculating times.)
