Western Arthurs

Is a party of 6 ok for the WA traverse in the first part of April or could it get a bit crowded ?

We saw a party of 12 going up in early March this year, so 6 should be fine. Just be prepared to squeeze onto 1 platform if others arrive as hogging all the platforms might be a bit rude.

Thanks for the quick reply. By the way from your your forum name, what is your fav part of the SW. Also as far as scenery goes on the WA traverse, weather allowing, where would you recomend on having a rest day on the traverse.

The Arthurs is hard to beat, but anywhere in the SW has a magic feel to it.
I love Melaleuca, and the SWcape cicuit remains one of my favourite walks, the Frankland range was on a par with the Arthurs, PB is awesome..... Not to mention Rhona, Mt Anne..... I just love anywhere down there!!

We had a rest day at Oberon, probably more forced than by choice though, but that was a great spot to have a wander around, if your doing the full traverse, a rest day at Haven Lake would probably be best, from there you could do a sidetrip out to Alderbaran which is a VERY nice peak and offers good views of both Arthurs. Also Haven lake marks the end of the difficult sections (almost) so it would be a good spot to get your energy back after taking on the Beggary Bumps.

If the weather is good I would walk. Dont waste a great day on the range lying around the camp. I have done it 3 times and every time we have had a forced rest day.

ILSWT is just a lazy *&%$#!. It's impossible to get him out of the tent most mornings.

True, either me or you it seems. I get bored sleeping in, and I like to think it makes up for how long I take to do anything else.

Lol. Stop putting yourself down. On track your as fast as anyone, in scrub your as strong as anyone, boulders and descents only slow you down cause your knees are failing to hold up your enormous size....

I usually lie in bed awake for ages thinking it'll be hours before anyone is up. then I hear someone stirring and think oh i'd better get up then.... unless it's a good morning and im up taking photos
