SW Tassie January/February?

Postby Osik » Sun 31 Oct, 2010 6:07 pm

Good Evening All,
Am hoping to take around 3-4 weeks off work and head down for my first trip to Tassie in Jan/Feb 2011. Would ideally like to do a couple of walks; at this stage thinking of Southern Ranges and Mt Anne though not set on this. As I probably have a fair bit of leeway of when to head south, just wondering whether anyone would particularly recommend either month? Much difference in the weather & no. of people + anything else that springs to mind?
thanks
Rafael

Jan and Feb are usually fairly similar.

I probably wouldnt suggest the Southern Ranges for your first Tassie walk.
Nothing to see here.

Mt Anne or Frenchmans Cap would be a good warm up.
I'd wait and see how you found them before committing to something like the Southern Ranges.
People wise - really the only thing you'd expect is things to get a bit busier around long weekends.
