walls of jerusalem

Postby nina79 » Fri 19 Nov, 2010 5:00 pm

Hello there,

I want to make a little round trip from Lake Ada to the Dixons Kingdom hut, going in via lake Ball and out via Zions Gate. Does anyone know if there are mostly trails or if it is a lot of "bush bashing" and is it easy to find your way from Dixons hut to Zions gate (to Powena Creek) as the maps (Chapmans book) I have dont show connection trails.

Any information is hugely appreciated

Nice easy walk, track out till just starting down hill to Talleh lagoons. Watch for track turnoff left to Lake Antimony via Theresa lagoon. After reaching Antimony, cross Powena creek then follow animal pads and open leads past Silver lake, Lake Sally, Lake Sonja, Lake Solveig and then arrive at Lake Ball where you turn right up through Jaffa Vale to Dixons Kingdom and the hut.
After leaving the hut, climb through the saddle and follow down the open valley past Mount Jerusalem to Zion Gate where you turn right (s.e.)and follow down the valley back to Lake Fanny where you will pick up a track (if you haven't already)near the start of Powena creek. This leads back to Talleh lagoons and after passing through just above the bottom lagoon you follow uphill to pick up again on the track back to Ada.

hello flyfisher,
thanks for your answer, we've done the trip and it was absolutely awesome, this is just such a pristine area. We started at lake Ada in the morning and walked till lake ball. Next day we had an easy stroll to dixons kingdom, set camp and explored the summits around there. We originally wanted to stay two nights at the hut but as it was pouring down the next morning we just walked back to lake Ada via Zions gate.
