SCott Kilvert

Postby Mafeking09 » Sun 21 Nov, 2010 4:10 pm

Greetings. PLanning a trip with our daughters (first over nighter) in December to Scott KIlvert Hut for a few nights. It's been ages since we were there. ANyone had any experience around there recently.
Is it heavily used?
What's its sleeping capacity.
How long does it take to get there (via Hansens) from Dove Lake?
What little side trips are good from there (will try to sneak up cradle/BArn Bluff if weather is favourable)

Cheers

I was there in December 2008. I think there were only 3 other people which surprised me. Capacity is quite large, there are no beds so you will sleep on the floor upstairs, see picture. The location is quite nice with the lake. To climb Cradle you'll have to walk all around the mountain to the other side however, which might take 1-2 hours. Same with Barn Bluff, it takes a bit to walk there from the hut.
