Postby David Meadows » Tue 03 May, 2011 3:04 pm

Can anyone give me the grid reference for Old Bill's Monument on Ben Lomond please?
Thank you so much

Have you seen TheLIST before? Listmap has 1:25000 map data on there

http://www.thelist.tas.gov.au/listmap/listmapstart.jsp

You would probably get more views to if it was in the the Tas discussion area not forum and site

When searching theLIST for Old Bills Monument, I only found 1 entry, and clicking on that entry merely brought up the following fairly useless information:

The feature you selected does not have a spatial definition.

Search Name: Old Bills Monument

Search Table: ILSROCK
Search Field: NOM_REG_NO
Search Value: 13698E

Contact the LIST helpdesk for further information.

However, searching the 1:25,000 maps on theLIST (starting with this link) for "Ben Lomond", and then zooming and panning I did find it on the map...

PS. Doh! You beat me to it.

Of course, the quickest and easiest way was to look on the wiki in the List of High Places. This is our very own sortable, detailed list of all peaks above 1000m, complete with altitude, map reference and grid details. :D

Code: Select all
Name              Altitude   Range/Area       25K      Map    Abel    Pts      Latitude    Longitude
Old Bills Monument    1480    Ben Lomond    5440    Giblin    N               -41.51854    147.62417

Google Tip: If you use the key word "Bushwalk" in your Google search you will find many references to this site. e.g.:

PS: you cut and past the co-ordinates for the high-places list into theList, Google Maps, or Bing Maps, etc.
