I'm heading up to Freycinet, planning to stay at Friendly Beaches and maybe catch a wave just after New Years.
Since it's super close to Coles Bay i figured i might take a look around the Hazards and check out the tracks in the region.
Does anyone have any info in regards to ''must do'' tracks? I'm not after an overnighter but a few hrs return would be nice and nothing off-track as i won't have EPIRB or SATNAV, etc. Cheers.
Mike

Well it's hardly even a walk, but Sleepy Bay is as close to heaven as I've been in a long time.

The obvious walk to Wineglass Bay is a couple of hours return, otherwise I'd go up Mt Amos which is probably the best view of Wineglass Bay and Coles Bay.

Yup Amos would be my vote, much less people, v speccy views and cool rock formations. Mt Dove is even better but off track.

Will definitely have a look at Sleepy Bay for a stroll, and if i can manage Mt Amos in a day i might try that as well, otherwise the Wineglass bay return will be the go if time is tight.
Thanks for the quick replies, makes planning easier.

Got back on Friday, what a great place, stayed at Friendly Beaches and took of early for Mt Amos, good thing i got there early as the car parks were packed by 9.30 so i beat the rush.
Mt Amos i have to admit was a bit of a challenge, i did the return trip under 3 hrs but found the slippery granite somewhat tricky.
As i was descending i passed maybe 10 people going up and they looked like they were struggling so i didn't feel so bad.
Also did the Wineglass bay return which was awesome, again, got there early and had the beach to myself for an hour or so in perfect weather.
Checked out Sleepy Bay, what a beautiful spot to lay back and read a book laying on the rocks.
I found that getting there early is the way to go, just too many people after 9.00am at that time of the year, i would pack up my gear from Friendly Beaches at about 6.00am and and do all my walking, surfing or whatever and then head back to the camp and set up again before the throngs would return
Can't wait to get out there again!!
