Has anyone been out to St Valentines peak recently ?
Just wanting to know the state of the track, last time I was down there it was getting a tad overgrown.
Cheers

I was up there in Feb. It was ok, I think the first few hundred metres before you hit the road were a little overgrown - may be worse now, but I can't really see it being an issue unless it's exploded after the rains this year. The majority of it was fine.

Ollster,
Thanks for the feedback, Yeah I remember the worst part being from the river crossing to the road but from the road to the summit was great.
I will post some more info after I get back.
Went up Today (Sun 010112) Track recently trimmed in places better that this time last year for sure and the weather was fantastic albeit it HOT!

I was there on 19th December. The track from the carpark to the river was great, 1.5m wide easy. Lots of reclaiming baurea in other places, but at worst its overhanging and a little scratchy. The boardwalks are covered with the crud, a track has been cut out along side them though. Rain all day certainly didn't help.

It is a great track with cut steps and boardwalks but whoever maintains it has found it easier to let them overgrow and cut a new track next to them.

Ha... This is true, I find that this is the case for a couple of the boardwalks on the track. It needs a good clear back over these boardwalk sections then it should be good for several years.
The track other than that is fine, I had a blast.

Went up today, views great. Overgrown at the start, but lovely after that, saw an echidna and parrots. Top bit a little windy. Didn't quite make it to the helipad, got to the rock with the wire around it, that last bit looked a bit too scarey.

The section from the Emu River to the 4wd road has become badly overgrown. I cleared a section of it a couple of months ago but it needs more work done. Mind you if all the people who commented had done a bit with hand tools all would be well! Self help friends! The track up the mountain is ok.
