Mount Emma via Jane River Track?

Postby mjdalessa » Sat 14 Jan, 2012 1:07 pm

Just investigating the possibility of doing Emma. I suppose the best access is via the Jane River Track? Any tips for finding the start? What is the mountain itself like? I cannot recall ever noticing it from the highway. It appears to be about 6km from Margaret Pass, anyone actually been up there that can give some kind of idea of what the ascent is like?

Is it even worth doing as a seperate trip?

Exactly my question. As I told you earlier, I am not interested in this at the end of our trip. I can leave you on the side of the road if you like while I go do something more fun. I'm not sure why you would really want to visit this one in such a hurry.

It's really easy, the track up it is clear and has well made steps. The viewing platform on top is fantastic. The chef is usually quite happy to make omelettes, and will happily prepare a crepe or two if asked.

**Disclaimer: I haven't been there, just going on my imagination and google maps.

Last I heard they were installing an escalator.

The water slide down is sooo much fun, especially the loop the loop section :)

hahaha, intrigues me for some reason. Yep, after seeing a picture (as I cannot recall ever noticing it) it's pretty far down my list seeing as there are so many better peaks in the area I have not done.
