hay all think its time for me to try carry a tent and bag thing so im after the easiest overnight maybe 2 night walk. main thing is that the track is very clear/well marked. im really not to flash with the compass hahaha this is mostly so I can practice what food to bring and gear etc etc learn what could of been handy etc. plus havent really camped in the wild before. im planing on getting away without requireing a stove/cooking. just a heap of tind tuna muesli fruit water. paying tours not an option I want to do it by myself plus im waaaay over budget as it is. coulda warned me how addictive this bushwalking business is!

ps for those concerned citizens my kit consists of garden trowl toilet paper compass map 80litre pack sleeping bag pack cover hiking boots several pairs good socks waterproof over pants? snow/water proof hoodie dog hair/alpaca beanie magical luck rock few changes of cloths in garbage bags a multi tool with can opener! (no more useing the car key for me!) long pants and jumpers a good novel phone with gps pain killers pressure bandage stery strips towl (allways take a towl) sunscreen mossie repellent lip balm earplugs deoderant toothbrush 5 litres water (need more?) 2-3kg of tuna few packs of mountain bread bag of mandarins bag of oranges some muesli bars berrocca bandaids and trash bags. if you can think of anything else let me know especially an alternative to tuna!! I dont really want to bring a bowl or plates etc or even a cup but if there is an alternative let me know aslong as its cheap I cant be quafing down cavier

True, except at this time of year there's no water, it's too hot, and there's too many people. Good suggestion though, it is very easy walking, and practically impossible to get lost.

Mt Wellington! Heaps of well marked tracks up there, and some nice isolated camping spots once you get off the eastern slopes.

Not too sure about going away for 3 days without a stove though!

looks like im going back to mt field again! hay what was the cost to leave ur car parked down the bottom overnight. I can sleep ontrack at mt field right?

edit# I only did a couple those mini walks and then mt field east last time (i really need my own vehicle hahaha) so im guessing mt field west has a overnighter any track/s in particular?

Shouldnt be any cost to park up there except for your parks pass!! And yes, you can camp up there.

hay so umm read a few reviews I dont see how mt field west is an overnighter. any other suggestions? I basicly want to HAVE TO walk a day to get somewhere then have to walk back not just take it easy and dawdle there then have a nap when I could quite easyly return. by easy I mean the tracks clearly marked possibly flatland not to much incline for hours on end. like a really really long southcape bay except with less ferns drowning my feet now im being picky but yeah know what I mean?

Mt field west isnt the ONLY peak on mt field......

Erm, we're talking about Tassie, yes? It's pretty hilly, and given most tracks are there to go up or near mountains... so you're after an easy overnight walk that requires a what - 10 hour day one way? 14 hours?

Your best bet is probably to walk the entire length of Lake St Clair, walk up into Pine Valley (or just keep walking up into the Labyrinth), camp the night, then walk out. It's pretty much all signposted, easy walking.

ive decided im goi.g to give the freycinet peninsula circuit a whirl 30ks well trodden and marked and im certai.tly not going to get sick of the view. im really quite excited now. I just wish I could find a decent map has anyone got a link to a "mytracks" on google maps of it please? ive read a few blogs but cant seem to find the my tracks of

How about south cape rivulet? An easy 3-4 hours each way, or extend it by continuing on to granite beach (makes for a long walk, but with a rest day in between would be very enjoyable). It is easy, not quite as crowded as Freycinet, has WAY more water available (you will need to carry most of your water for Freycinet, unless there is water in the tank at Cooks beach; don't rely on it), and is closer to where you live.

There is a 1:50000 Freycinet NP tasmap, should cost about $10. You should be able to get it at Service Tas on Macquarie St or at the Map Centre on Elizabeth St (near Snowgum). It is worth purchasing and carrying rather than relying on something you print from the internet. As long as you are sticking to formed tracks you shouldn't need the 1:25000 maps for a highway track this busy and clearly marked.

dont forget to carry plenty of water, probably check at the visitors centre to see if the is any on the peninsula.

Acropolis or Labyrinth return? I'd highly recommend them. Barn Bluff is another good short two day trip.

For an easy walk try Shadow Lake. Camp 2 nights and do a day walk to one or some of the surrounding peaks. (Lake St Clair start)
Or walk from Lake Ada to Theresa Lagoon or Lake Fanny. Take your fishing rod. (Though if my experience is any guide you won't catch any.)
South Cape Bay or Rivulet.

Lees paddocks would have to be one of the best. Yeah I know it's only a day walk but then head up a bit further, to Wadleys and camp there.

Well i did freycinet wednesday (got to.bryans beach pretty much on adrenaline as i had fractured my left foot) thursday i learnt that if i curld my big toe i could kinda hobble so i did that all day screaming and swearing eventually from compensateing for the fractured left foot i tore my right calf muscle. Slipd down a few rocks after mt grahem smashing my head (didnt actually rememberd this untill i watched one of my terrible videos felt back of my head and sure enough giant egg) and basicly hobbled and swore my way to wineglass bay stayd night there haveing eaten and drank all my food and water the day before so that there wasnt so much weight on my foot and couldnt straighten my right leg. Was quite hungry filthy thirsty discoverd a packet of biscuits that had washed ashore believeing in a allmighty power again i desttoyed said biscuits to learn i had been had and required to quench this super thirst any means possible. Bear grills did pop into mind im just glad now i couldnt go. So being fooled wasnt enough i was sent some dangerous *&%$#! (it's the other end that is dangerous actually ) black snakes to "mess" with me. 3! Times! Anyways 1and a half days of hopping up and down mountains threw scrubland. What the hell do you guys do when yojr injured on track?!? I wasnt lost but i was 2 days away from the carpark with no phone reception. I was thinking of setting up my tent throwing my bag inn it and ziptieing it up to collect another day but it had everything i owned pretty much in it. I was so prepared i had 8 litres of water and a backup can opener hahaha well im to exhausted to do anything really. I gotto be honest. It was "gosh darned" terrible i wouldnt wish that "most unfortunate circumstance" on anyone. If you shoot a guy in the foot and drop him off in a desert, i would prefer that really hes got no pack and no *&%$#! mountains to climb. In hindsite i should have just gone back the way i came from bryans. But i just didnt want to have to walk up what i had walked down believeing i wouldnt be able to make it. Oh how wrong i was thinking the other way was going to be easyer. But i did it. Despite the call to just call it a day and lay facedown in a puddle.

seriously though, take it easy mate, getting yourself in 2 bad situations in 2 of the easiest walks our state has to offer is a slight concern...

Oh that's funny, care to post the videos somewhere and provide a link? At least you didn't call the chopper I guess. I'd suggest taking more care, you could do yourself some damage and I'd hate to come across a stinky dead body the next time I go for a walk.

It's not unlike any language little kids hear eventually and then abuse in the playground. There is also a swear filter, which filters out those words anyway. Is yours on? EDIT: Oh, hang on I can see the problem, he can't spell. That'll do it!
