The track from Fortescue Bay to Cape Huay is in its final weeks of work. It is now quite an easy walk with steps and level track along almost the entire 5k length, and can be done in around 3 hours return. It's coming into season for whales to be moving past and might be a rewarding day trip for some in the coming month or two...

So they've shortened the length substantially?

The track is closer to 9km in length(return) and takes 4 hrs at a moderate pace. Work is still happening on the final section for another cpl of weeks but is pretty close.

They're taking all the fun out of it.

The return leg doesn't actually make the track any longer does it? Atleast not for those building it.

Work on the Cape Huay section should be wrapped up this weekend.

4 hours if you dawdle. its pretty much a highway now, should look nice in a couple years when theres some regrowth around it to help it blend again.

I think the track specs said your are supposed to be able to walk down the track with arms outstretched and not be able to touch anything. Now THAT is a wilderness experience
