With some discussion recently about the peakbagging and The Abels lists I started to think about all the mountains and hills that have been neglected and deserve to be ascended. There are some that you would think would be Abels but don't quite make the grade such as "Ossas Heel", I haven't been up there, yet, but it screams out come and have a look at me when you climb Ossa itself. Another really enjoyable little walk is "Bear Hill" on Schouten Island, this is a great little walk comparable to St Patricks Head for its fun value and time to ascend. Maybe if you are going to have a grassy knoll on a list, the child in me would like it to at least have a cool name like "Batmans Lookout" (Near Stacks Bluff).
Anyone else got any neglected mountains or hills that are worthy of a mention in "Doogs list of the misfit and delinquent mountains of Tasmania."?

Badger Head. Just because of the name.

Murderers Hill.

I think Dave wants Sodom to be included.

Most of the Cape Pillock stuff is off the lists, isn't it? Cape Hauy and The Blade, for instance. Not neglected as walks, but deserving of at least minor peak status.

The blade is hardly a peak, even a minor one.

Haven't walked Cape Huay so can't comment on that one!

True although it certainly is more prominent than Proteus which is on both the Abels and PB lists!

Nope, there's only MacGregor and Fortescue out that way. Even those are pretty sus really.

Mt Balfour or frankland are more worthy than macgregor

How about a list of the more spectacular minor summits? Manfred Heel, Achilles Heel, Cuvier Spur, third High Dome summit, Weindorfers Tower, South Spur, Foresight (can it be climbed without ropes?), Big Gun etc.

Anyone climbed the foresight as a bushwalker? When we were in the area recently we nearly got up South Spur because of a wrong turn, but turned around because we had no desire to climb it. Now it look back and think it would have been quite nice.

I wouldn't call it a mountain though, more of a hill or even a hump but a must do on the way to Crescent Beach. Great views all around from there and a lovely walk. Isn't that what counts

Already 2 Brown's on the list, and the one you talk of is probably the nicest!

I'd want Mt Direction(Hobart) and The Watcher(Mt Field) put back on the list.

I can understand The Watcher being removed, because of the Rodway Range listing. Ditto Naturaliste. But Crater should be there. And if the Temple - a ten minute amble up a Wineglass Lookout standard track - is good enough, why not Ophel or Zion Hill or Moriah?

I'd like to see Mt Montgomery back on there, and Mt Dial off. I think it was possibly the first mountain (if you can call it that) that I ever climbed. The Dial was my playground growing up. Montgomery is certainly much better than Dial for views, and it is a better walk IMHO.

Other peaks like Marble Bluff and Darkes Peak are some omissions that I would include.

mt beattie. fabulous view of bathurst habour. And mt direction or the meehan range - should be at least be one point on hobart's eastern shore.
