Hi folks
Does anyone have any experience with insurance for Nepal?
We are in need of two ploicies, one ageneral trekking one for about 100 days,
and another for about a week crossing some climbing passes at 6300m, these will involve some use of ropes and climbing equipment.
Thanks for any suggestions
John

Options?
World Nomads
Global Rescue
Ripcord Rescue Travel Insurance
Read the fine print! Some of these provide evacuation back to a hospital of your choice. Medevac flights are expensive ...
Some may not cover what you are doing. Read the policy. Your life could depend on it.

IHI travel insurance used to be very good for most adventures bar mountaineering. Have used 10 years ago, and was very happy with it.
This could be an option for your trekking needs.

Interested to know how you got on John as I am in a similar position (heading up >6000m).

FWIW for anyone in a similar situation in the future, I went with Global Rescue which will provide cover for any height summit.

Thanks Xastorm
Global Rescue seems to be the only remaining for over 6000m
And you need regular travel insurance in addition,
The Austrian mountaineering club has an associated broker but its complex.
A helicopter insurance rescue scam has brought this situation upon us.

I was quite keep to go with the AAC but my reading of their single trip travel insurance (>6000m) was that it was only available to EU members. I emailed them to clarify but didn’t receive a response.
I haven’t taken out an extra policy, do you mind elaborating on for what purpose you’ve done so?

Yes Xa
I a yet to sort my own policies but my family is over there on a high traverse,
so I am advised that the Global Rescue policy is a rescue/retrieval policy thayt goes over 6000m
and that general health will be covered by a traditional travel insurance policy,
my family chose Alliance for that
