Hiking in the everglades?

I don't think so...

Don't know whether it's the everglades or not, but it sure isn't Tasmania...

I have a feeling not too many people obey that sign.
In the interests of international tourism, I think they should offer it in multiple languages.

It doesn't say which side of the road. Maybe the other side's safer. Or is it a causeway . . . ?

Yeah, doesn't matter how wide that road is, the other side wouldn't be any safer in my view...

Then you wouldn't be walking in the first place, would you?

I have read that alligators aren't quite as stroppy as crocs. Don't know how much faith I put in that, though.

At the Broome Croc park the guys there said they are extremely cautious around salties,
but that they can sometimes stand on American alligators when feeding them.

Would want to be pretty good at picking one from the other then.
Personally, big + big teeth = no thanks.

The snout is very different. Crocs have a broad rounded nose, while gators have a narrow, tapered one.

Or is it the other way around . . . ?

No, a croc's not likely to eat you straight away, they like their meat . . . ummmmmmm . . . how do I put this delicately . . . aged. Tenderised. Marinated in water for a few days.

QI last night revealed that a rubber band is a good defence against crocs and alligators, since they have rather feeble mouth-opening muscles, despite string mouth-closing muscles. So just put a few rubber bands around the end of their snout and you're perfectly safe. Simple, eh?

How?

I don't even want to get within the range of a .45 of one. If nothing else, that would mean I would be in an area where the weather is too warm for me.....

haha. there is no hiking in the Everglades - the closest you come is running away from the alligators!
