Still can't figure it out though.

ah, that brought a smile to my dial on an otherwise glum morning.
Thanks!

Pindars peak I could not see.
You might see it when driving to a dam.
You might see it, Sam-I-am.
In keeping with your clue and the rhyme, are you looking at Mt Anne, Sam-I-am?
Wed 05 Apr, 2023 2:09 pm
Yes, Mt Anne is pictured.
Any idea where I took the photo?
Or is another clue required?
Wed 05 Apr, 2023 2:16 pm
Thought you might want to know that. How about Mt Wedge?

Not far off with the angle but we were quite a bit closer.
"In ancient times, hundreds of years before the dawn of history, there lived a strange race of people.
No one knows who they were, or what they were doing. But their legacy remains, hewn into the living rock."
Our second peak of the day was a visit to these people. But the photo was taken from the first peak.

celtic hill? didn't think it looked high enough?
Wed 05 Apr, 2023 3:34 pm
Celtic Hill is correct.
Here's another picture with a wider view, also showing the strange Druids.

Several days walk from there

I nearly said Shakespeare myself, but then realised that's Diamond and Yop Yop and thus the PoWs from the other side (I thiink). Which suggests West Coast Range or Frenchmans Group unless you've really been going wild and gotten yourself into some of the more obscure country in between.
Opening the bidding with Mt Sorell.

You have correctly identified the contents of the pic but not where it's taken from. I'm a fair way from Mt Sorell

This is where I need eggs' skill with angles. You can see Diamond and Yop Yop from the King Wiillies, but wouldn't the angle be different? This looks further west. Lodden Range ... still not far enough west unless I'm totally wrong on the angle thing. Gell? I think that puts the Green Gonk in the riight position with regard to Diamond ...

None of those are right but you are a lot closer

Which makes me think it's somewhere in the Arrowsmiith/Beehive/Calders Lookout area but I've done my dash and it's time to leave this for someone else.

right direction but further away

I have the same view from Gould's Sugarloaf

Yes - it is Selina

Did not expect that one to be right.

are you on Mt Zeehan?
Sun 09 Apr, 2023 6:49 am
Yes, indeedy. I went back to see what it's like when you can actually see what it's like. Very different to the first visit.
