On the slopes of The Minotaur on the way to the Guardians? Looking at Mt Gould.

I was actually on the way back, but otherwise you're spot on.

I camped in that saddle a few years ago - not much water there in summer haha.
Next one.

Might have the wrong side of the island but it reminds me of Peron Dunes.
Wed 26 Apr, 2023 7:05 pm
That's probably because it is the Peron Dunes!

The weir, the casurinas and willows, along with some agricultural land (and is that houses at top-left?) remind me of the South Esk.
Comparing with the maps, it looks like a good fit for the weir near the old hydro intake for the old Duck Reach Power Station.
Which would place you at one of the lookout spots near the end of Duck Reach Road, a bit past the Hoohoo Hut.
(I don't think I've ever been to those lookout spots, myself, despite having lived nearby most of my life, and having had BBQs at the Hoohoo Hut many times.)

Pretty much spot on Nik. This was from nearly 20 years ago, we did a circuit up the gorge/South Esk past the dam via Duck Reach, Hoo Hoo Hut et al and back via Reedy and Snake gullies.
Not traditional bushwalking territory, more likely favoured by locals for after work exercise etc. On one of our several stays in Lonnie over the years.

Thanks John. It is a nice area to have so close to the city.

You're on the right track... it is looking at Rufus. Should be fairly easy to figure out roughly where I was to get this view of Rufus a couple of weeks ago.

Let's say Shadow Lake track
Mon 01 May, 2023 9:53 am
Yes, that's it, of course. We were on our way to climb Little Hugel and then camped at Shadow Lake.
(Sorry for the late reply!)

Always an enjoyable spot.
Where was the tent recently when I lazily snapped this pic from the door?
