I did get a map out - and I placed it early on the ascent over the Rodway Range.?

Bit tough indeed, not to mention the lazy remark to poor Scavenger  She does deserve it though given that Pencil Pine photo she posted last time
Just as well eggs is out there keeping us honest and he is spot on, it is taken from the top of the ascent of Rodway. Must admit I didn't take enough notice of what I posted, I thought it was amongst a group of shots I took from amongst the boulders just below Naturaliste Peak, but like so many other things in life I find myself mistaken. :(

My most humble apologies to Scavenger I do believe it's your turn. :D

Quite right, I do indeed.
(And, by the way, all the answers were wrong. It was Twisted Tarn, not the Twisted Lakes.)

I did think it would be at the top of the climb up from the Mawson Plateau, but wasn't sure enough to say so without checking. What a wuss. ;) But thank you for being so gentlemanly.

OK, something nice and easy, I think . . .

Thanks for clarifying the Pencil Pine shot. I really was scratching my head to place it near the Twisted Lakes or lake Hanson.

However, you really shouldn't post again until you tell us where you took the one posted on the 22nd July and clarified on the 27th with a shot with even less clues in it !!

A few of us would like to know.

Would that be Cathedral Mountain from Kia Ora or maybe from the helipad at Du Cane Hut?

Right mountain. Not quite the right spot.
EDIT: No, I'm wrong, and you're right - DuCane helipad it is. Over to you.

Sorry, I didn't think anyone remembered or cared about that one.
 Actually, I think someone may have guessed it because I got the shots confused. According to the notes, the shot was taken on the saddle between Hartz and Snowy, but I don't recall that area being like that, and the number sequence is all wrong. Going on the surrounding shots, it must have been between Florentine and Tyenna Peaks. I think . . .

Probably too easy - where am I heading OR if I took a few steps back what would I be standing on?

That has cleaned up a couple of mysteries, but I'm still confused by the last photo from Eggs.

The current photo from TasTrax is number 244. So by the time we get to 60 pages in the game we should be close to 250 photos.

OK - I am heading off today for some leave so we have till midday to crack this...

Clue 1 - The track is mainly used by day trippers in the Southwest...but not in the national park. :D

I haven't been to Melaleuca, but from your clues, I suspect you are next to the branch of Melaleuca Lagoon ending in a pontoon landing.
This track would then be heading back to the airstrip.

walkinTas - the trick with my last photo from Cradle Plateau is to realise the bottom third of the picture is of a small pool and heath right next to me, and the rest of the photo is on the other side of Lake Dove
(ie a big drop and gap in between). The zoom effect can mask this a bit. The lakes on the other side are Twisted Lakes with their white quartzite rocks.

Correct - the track does indeed head to the pontoon on Melaleuca Creek.

Try this for something different. Remember I live in the Northwest!

Its a long river, so reasonable accuracy with naming the spot. :)

Are you near the footbridge over the Leven River at the splits?

That was quick! I've not heard the name "the splits" before, but it is the Leven River just after the foot bridge. So your go geoskid.

This walk can be accessed from Loongana Rd a little past the turn-off to the Leven Canyon lookout. You head down a track to a set of stairs then across a foot bridge, then head up stream on the northern side of the Leven and finally return to Loongana Rd near Webbs Flats after the road has crossed the Leven.

I'm not sure where I got the the name "The Splits" or "Leven Splits" but I'm sure I read it somewhere for it to be in my head - perhaps I'm dreaming
Whoever is first up with a photo can go next.
Edit: Had to look it up - its called Leven Splits, not The Splits in John Chapmans book that covers the Penguin Cradle Trail, which is where I saw it when researching the walk. The section of PCT from Loongana to Gunns Plains is just wonderfull, and would make a great o/nighter to do with sure footed older children, camping at Blackwood camp.

:| what, still no takers??
Looks like it was taken from the top of Mt Direction, looking down into Ralphs Bay with Betsey Island on the horizon. Oh, and Lindisfarne and Tasman Bridge in foreground.
It's a pleasant wlk up there from Risdon Brook Dam, which was one of my favourite places for picnics when I used to liver in Hobart.

Correct Swifty, it's a nice walk and only 5mins from home in Lindisfarne, got to be careful of snakes in Summer, they are everywhere.

I have a chart of progress in the game and while the long term average per day is creeping below 4, there are still hot days during the week when a number of entries are put through. But personally - I think that one a day is about what the long term average will be - and I could live with that.
Not quite the tasadam "a fast game is a good game" - but people do not live on the internet (which is good)

Curiously - I have found the game a great wealth of information and perspectives on a great range of Tasmania's locations.
But because it has shifted from the gallery - to the games section - it is now no longer visible to visitors??!
The game may have actually been a real interest item to a visitor to the site and may have got them to join.

Anyway - this is the next one.
IMGP4233.jpg

PS - although there is a lot of zoom in this one - I suspect it will be very easy. :)

It is a huge wealth of information for sure. Yes, I agree it is a pity it is not visible to casual visitors.

By my count this is entry number 249 and today is day 80 of the game, so still just over 3 pictures a day and slowing. I suspect it is getting harder for some regulars to find good photos, but who knows where it will end!

Anyway, I'll take a pot-shot at Mt. Murchison.
