There is on the MVO, where it crosses at the dam.
Sorry does this also refer to the Tumut? As in the Happy Jacks MVO near the Far Bald trail turnoff? I can't think of any bridge over the Tooma in this area?

Yes, I got my river names mixed up. Sorry about that.
And as peregrinator has been kind enough to insist on me taking over, we're moving south over the boorder. Name either the peak in front of me or the one behind:

Could also be the Bluff!

That's one of them. This is somewhere between the Bluff and Eadley Stoney.

Wasn't expecting that, but let's stay in Vic.
Sorry about the green cast on this photo, I can't decide if i should keep paying for adobe editing software or find an alternative, so....

You need to adjust the white balance, possibly in the camera as well. If that doesn't do the trick, I then use Colour Variations. Not necessarily perfect but it gets pretty close. For me, it's only been a problem when using el cheapo polarising filters.
This one is odd though, because the colour on your canyoning shots always looks right.

I usually take all my photos as DNG/ raw files.
Windows only has basic ability to edit raw files, but much better than a few years ago when I couldn't even open them!
I'm mostly just annoyed at adobe bumping the price for lightroom, so don't wanna give them my $$

Yeah, I always shoot RAW but recently made the major mistake of upgrading the camera, just to find out that Adobe no longer support the ancient version of Lightroom I bought way back when (so iot doesn't recognise the files from the new camera) and I refuse to move to a subscription because it's a *&%$#! rip-off. But adjusting the colour temperature and tint and tones is usually pretty straightforward withh their software.

I sometimes use GIMP, which is also free. Works for me.
https://www.gimp.org/Haven't used Dark Table but I trust crollsurf. So either might help.
Here's a very quick GIMP edit of your shot simply using auto functions for Stretch Contrast HSV and White Balance.
I don't know if it's closer to expectation but gives an idea of possibilities.

I'm getting Bogong vibes.

I'm not on Bogong. (I thought i'd be sneaky with this one! )
Nor is that Bogong in view.

Fainters?

Not even on the Fainters.
I'm not even within sight of the Fainters. In fact, I'm looking almost directly towards The Fainters in this image, but they are hidden behind the mountain in the centre. Though even if you were on that mountain in front you would have problems seeing the Fainters as they are behind another large mountain.
(Note previous clue; that I cannot see Bogong from my current vantage.
i.e: I'm not on the BHPs!

Twins maybe, based purely on geometry? Snow cover makes it harder to tell (for me at least who's only been down that way in dry seasons).
Thu 22 Aug, 2024 1:19 pm
I'm not on the Twins.
You are heading in the right direction though!

I was wondering if maybe you were looking at Big Mac, but that doesn't seem to fit with the "looking towards the Fainters" bit.

Most Likely - this is Mt Howitt. I have a shot from King Billy 2 with the same profile, but the shot is closer than KB2.
Magdala was in cloud when we went over it so no shot from that angle.

The peak in view is indeed Mt Howitt.
I am indeed on Mt Magdala!

Where is this Mount Big Mac?
Fri 23 Aug, 2024 9:24 am
Big Mac will be Mt McDonald - a little further south than Magdala.
Shifting to SA.
Name this peak I was near a few weeks ago.
Bonus for where I was.

Ahh, the peak at the top of SOAB spur!

Cleft Peak?

Fair way south from Cleft Peak

The complex peak at rear RHS is better known and sits overlooking a road through a gorge
Mon 26 Aug, 2024 12:06 pm
I'm possibly putting two and two together and arriving at an answer of 5. But no one has responded further, so here goes.
There is a road through Brachina Gorge. Guessing that the complex peak may be the number of peaks to the north, the Haywards etc.
So could you be on The Guardian looking at Heysen Hill? Well known name. One reference says it looks "sharp".
Unfortunately can't find any images to support my assumptions.
Mon 26 Aug, 2024 3:43 pm
Nice try John.
The road is actually further north through Parachilna Gorge, which means Brachina is behind me in this view, as are the Haywards.
I suspect my peak is not a well known name - but it is seen but multitudes driving past the Flinders.
Give it a little longer to see if anyone can get closer.

Perhaps this is Mt Falkland with Mt Mary in the RHS distance?
Mon 26 Aug, 2024 7:53 pm
The main peak in view reminds me of Kankanna. I'd have to dig out photos from that trip to check, and it's really too much bother ...
Mon 26 Aug, 2024 8:25 pm
Kankana is correct - well done.
Mt Falkland was the more notable one at rear.
We were on Iralbo
