Not Magnetic Island. It is an island but I'm quite a bit further north.

I think it's Hinchinbrook and Nina Peak.

Not there Sandy but you're a bit closer. I'm still further north, you are very roughly 1/3 of the way there from Magnetic Is.

Nothing jumping out at me, but it looks like classic Hawkesbury sandstone country. I'll guess somewhere in the Nattai Valley area.

The Nattai is correct John, but it's a big place. I'm on a track at a named place.

correct. We walked the river from Mittagong and came up the old cableway.

I love coming up the old skip incline, a bit of a workout though.

What named feature/s are we sheltering on? NSW:

I have no idea whatsoever, but just wanted to compliment you for an evocative photograph.

Thank you peregrinator. It overlooks an evocative and spectacular area. It was a windy, chilly day and we climbed up here to find a sheltered spot for lunch on the way to a very deep valley. I don't know how many bother to climb up here from the track but it's worth the effort.

I'm thinking either Clark or Nichols Gorge but I'm not familiar with this spot.

Is this the flow out of Lake Albina?

Closer but no. There is a "no through" track within stone's throw of here.

The feature that the adjacent track goes to watches over this waterway

Finally back after not being able to log in for days, site seems to be down most of the time.
Anyway, I'm thinking about a walk that I did years ago. Left the track at Carruthers Creek and more or less followed it around to Club Lake.
I vaguely remember a similar waterfall in that creek valley. The no through track clue could refer to the Blue Lake/Hedley Tarn branch.

Not too far away, but on the wrong side of the range.

So I'm thinking that means somewhere on the Western Fall.
There's a lot of rocky outcrops like that below the Sentinel and approach ridge. Maybe on Strzelecki Creek?

Strzelecki is correct. The waterfalls get bigger the further down it goes.
