johnw is correct.
How many times a year would it appear as above? (this was about 27/7/2008)

I don't know how often it happens but knew that they can freeze. Looks like quite a spectacle. It was snowing and very cold when we went up there a few months ago but the falls were still free flowing.
What is the name of the feature I'm standing on?

Don't know, but looks Tarkine-ish?

Yes it is Tarkine-ish.

Pretty sure this is wrong, but perhaps the Milkshakes Reserve, looking West?
It's the only elevated spot I have been in the Tarkine, must get up that way soooooon.

Hmmm ... never been anywhere in the Tarkine other than the coast ('though the forests and ranges are on my list). But is it perhaps on the Norfolk Range?
cheers
Peter

The Tarkine region is correct, but it is quite a long way from Milkshake Hills and further south than the Norfolk Range. Keep going guys, you're getting closer.
I really enjoyed the Tarkine during our all-too-brief stay and often found it quite different to other places I've visited in Tassie. Definitely worth checking out in detail if you can make the time to drive there.

That was quick whynotwalk, yes I'm standing on the summit of Mt Donaldson

. We stayed 3 or 4 days at Corinna and I can recommend the Mt Donaldson walk nearby. A lot of work has been done improving the track up to the top, although it was a something of a minor bogfest during all the rain when we walked it in mid-August.
Your turn...

Thanks John W - a good recommendation too.
Okay - a day walk theme continues. Where am I?

Alum Cliffs near Mole Creek/Chudleigh?
Thu 26 Nov, 2009 12:51 pm
Yep - that's the place. Also known by its Aboriginal name - Tulampanga. Back to you John

Pleasant short walk that I've done a couple of times but never able to get a good photo. I think it might be best early in the morning.
Here's the next one, where am I camped?

Thanks johnw, I have never camped there but have passed through a couple of times.
It looks to be good camping.
I hope I haven't posted this pic before.

Got to the spot where photo taken, and headed down to campsite at Glassworm Tarn. To much wind to go on. Next day it clagged in so we decided to go for a low level walk. Didnt do alot of walking but did do nearly 1200km for a three day weekend

Crikey, slow Saturday. Looks a bit like Mt wellington possibly from somewhere around Milles Track
Sat 28 Nov, 2009 7:24 pm
Its not wellington itself and its not on the miles track.....
Sat 28 Nov, 2009 7:37 pm
"not wellington itself" suggests it is wellington range. Might need clues. Not much to go on in the photo. I've actually no idea. How about Trestle Mountain from Mountain River track?
Sat 28 Nov, 2009 7:43 pm
Not wellington itself is a fairly big clue.....
No not Trestle, Ok I'll give more clues as I am in a good mood due to having been out walking today...
It's one of the higher peaks in the area, And I went up the Mountain river (steep) track to get to this place....
