Hmmm - never been there, but is it on the Eldons? That looks like the tail end of a reservoir in the midddle-ground of the pic, and it's not far from lots of more familiar looking places,

cheers

Looks like you are on the way to the top of Mt Murchison, three quarters of the way or so (before you go past that exposed bit from where you can first see the summit), looking back SE over the top of Lake Murchison in the foreground to Mt Ossa and peaks of the centre part of the NP, with the Eldons poking into sight on the right.

You should compare the last photo with the bottom one on this post - taken from the top of Murcho :wink:

PS - I think the one you see as 'Ossa' is Mt Olympus - Byron & Cuvier just to its right and Gould/Guardians on the left hand side

Very close sbs. As a quick game is a good game, I'll give it to you.

It's just past Newdegate Pass, on the Rodway Range between the Watcher and K Col. Your go,

cheers

Ha, I knew something wasn't quite right, very Mt Field-ish, I came from K-Col to Newdegate Pass when I went through there.
The Watcher is a great spot for lunch.
This shot is taken from a track half way up a summit.

Hmmmm...looks like Schnells in the background (with rare covering of snow?).
Must place you on the way up Eliza, below high camp hut somewhere?

Yessir,
Anne's summit was under blizzard conditions, without a breath of wind at High Camp Hut, really strange but AWESOME!

Always seems strange to see snow on Schnells & the Arthurs, they just don't seem high enough;
that's the SW for you tho, it's a totally different climate zone.
This next one i'm not on a summit...

one more go before lunch ... given there's an obvious plateau/saddle, is it in the Thetis/Paddys Nut area?

Now we've reached our destination :D
Perrins Bluff as seen from the west (in the saddle below Achilles);
we took these open connecting ridges to Pelion West from Leonards tarn, a fantastic area :D

Thanks Stu - I'm planning a trip back to that fantastic area in Feb. As it happens I was looking at the area on Google Earth yesterday. So I shouldn't have taken so long!

Next one is a relaxing Friday arvo' type of shot. Where am I resting?

cheers

Looking like Oakleigh to me, but not the true summit which is in the distance
(the little valley which you cross on the top is in the foreground).

Spot on, Stu! Oakleigh "faux summit" it is.

When we were camped at Thetis Saddle many years before, we had a memorable view of sunset painting Oakleigh's "organ pipes" (where I'm reclining in this pic) every warm colour of the spectrum. That whole Pelion area feels like the heart of the Reserve to me.

Back to you,

cheers
