Thanks eggs, but I can't get my hands on a suitable photo to post until tonight. Your turn...
Mon 18 Jan, 2010 11:54 am
OK then - its been a while since I put anything up - so this might be a stinker (it was 36 in Hobart when we did this)
Mon 18 Jan, 2010 1:56 pm
How about Steeped Hill with the Gordon River in valley below?
Mon 18 Jan, 2010 2:05 pm
Further south - this is a smaller river than the Gordon.
Mon 18 Jan, 2010 2:11 pm
Is it the Anne River from Schnells? With the Arthurs in the background??
Mon 18 Jan, 2010 2:17 pm
Yes it is.
I thought it would be harder to get - well done.

Doesn't look familiar as Western Arthurs, but maybe in the Easterns somewhere?
Tue 19 Jan, 2010 10:33 am
Yes stu - he might be on the East Portal looking back at the Stuart Saddle & the Dial
[There is a faint suggestion of a track going up into the saddle on the left]
Wed 20 Jan, 2010 5:59 pm
Spot on Eggs! East Portal it is!!
The Dial and The Needles with Stuart Saddle in the middle!
Thu 21 Jan, 2010 6:49 am
A bit unfair as I was just there, but I can't resist & the game seems to be a lot slower these days
You are at the Bullfrog Ponds (?) along the Moonlight Ridge track looking toward The Hippo & La Perouse.
Yet another magnificent wild area, pity about the logging operations which are visible to the south east in this area
(even from Pindars which is sad, kinda detracts from the views a bit).

Nice work Stu! Swifty had this exact picture in some months ago!!
I missed yours from a few pages ago too looking across the Southern ranges, I'd have been all over that one...

Thu 21 Jan, 2010 7:59 am
I can't login on the baclkberry to respond to the game?
Yes - you were right stu - it was a photo from last week.
Cannot comment on views from Pindars - we were in cloud

Thu 21 Jan, 2010 8:38 am

Calder and Arrowsmith?
Thu 21 Jan, 2010 8:56 am
Stu - we went through to Ooze on Wednesday evening. Met an older solo walker who said there were 2 tents on lakes edge on a wild Tuesday night who probably went on to PB.
Would that have included you?
Thu 21 Jan, 2010 9:39 am
eggs, we stayed at Pigsty Ponds for 2 nights (did some day walks on second day - back to The Hippo & La Perouse), 3rd night at Leaning Tea Tree, 4th night at PB low camp, 5th night at Cavern camp, 6th night at Surprise Bay & 7th night at South Cape Rivulet. We were down there between the 28th Dec & 4th Jan, including those couple of very, very hot days (30th & 31st), tho we did get a great view of the lightning show from PB low camp. When were you down there?
SW - yes, taken from past (west) of Mt Arrowsmith on our Way to Calders lookout, which included walking along what is left of the very old west coast 'road'.

Stu - as I mentioned - this was last week 12-15th Jan.
It was a quick change in our plans (we were going to do the Anne circuit) when one person had to drop out. It was a terrific walk - I will post some photos later in the Gallery

Thanks Stu! (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STU HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STU....)
Ok here's an (hopefully) easy one as I may not be around much for the next few days.....

The Thumb from near Federation Peak?
Thu 21 Jan, 2010 3:54 pm
hey that's me! lol if I didn't see that I don't reckon I'd know where this is
Thu 21 Jan, 2010 4:08 pm
Well - if that is Nick S - and if it was from his trip to the Western Arthurs - might it be from the slopes above Lake Cygnus as you head towards Mt Hayes?
Strike that - the spire of rock looks a bit different to my photo of that place.
Edit - perhaps on the ridge leading up to Mt Capricorn from Mt Pegasus?
