How about the view north west over the plateau from Ironstone Mt.
Thu 21 Jan, 2010 5:39 pm
NW from Ironstone Mountain?
edit (whoops, beaten)
Thu 21 Jan, 2010 6:27 pm
Ironstone is close enough Peter.
It was actually the bluff 1 km south - see my recent trip report.

Well I will make it a bit harder than my last couple this time, well I think it is harder.
Just read and enjoyed your Walls report Brian. Hope to be going past Long Tarns myself later in Feb.

Looks a bit like an area I saw in some photos from a forum members recent trip up towards North star
Fri 22 Jan, 2010 7:31 am
No not near North Star, the country looks like the south west but it isn't.
Fri 22 Jan, 2010 9:40 am
Mt Bertha by any chance???
Fri 22 Jan, 2010 11:39 am
No not Bertha it is a southerly area
Sat 23 Jan, 2010 7:46 am
Time for a clue then.
It is in Tasman National Park on Tasman Peninsula. If that doesn't get an correct answer I will put in another clue later today.

Perhaps this will help, the photo below was taken from the peak in question.

Must be taken from Crescent Mt then.. I wouldn't have known from that first pic though. My Bro and I were just up Mt Brown last week actually!

What a beautiful spot, another for the list thanks Peter.

Crescent is the scrubby one. You're very close, but but need a peak that is a tad nearer the coast.
Sat 23 Jan, 2010 9:16 pm
Oh well Nick I am off away on a walk on Sunday, so i will give to you. The actual spot is
Arthurs Peak. You ceratinly could mistake it for SW Tas. And SBS I am happy to go back there, best in Spring when flowers are at peak.
More photos

I think Nick may be out walking somewhere, I reckon someone else should post to keep things moving
Sun 24 Jan, 2010 8:00 pm
Sorry Peter, I had to go before..
I do have a pic to put up though

Cannot tell if you are using much zoom - but what about from Markham Heights looking out over to Mt Victoria and Mt Albert and Mt Saddleback in the distance?
Edit - strike that. I have found a curious scree pattern on google satellite matching much better.
Are you on Stonjeks Lookout?
Sun 24 Jan, 2010 9:05 pm
The view from markham heights would be slighlty different with the scree fields falling to the north, instead of the east in the photo.. But close enough, it's a few km away on Hamilton crags, just east of the ski village.
Great short walk just 30 min from the car park!
Just saw your edit. That's it brian!
Going up Ben lomond every year as a kid I always used to know that place as Stonjeks as well! But the maps I have only say Hamilton crags. Same place I think.
Just found this topic on the ski.com.au forums, about proposed walking tracks on ben lomond. Stonjeks is one of them

I was using the LIST for the name.
It has Hamilton Crags shown as well as a particular top called Stonjeks in the middle of that section.
Next one is a panorama
Mon 25 Jan, 2010 6:54 am
Mountain on the left looks a bit like Mt Wylly, but cant place your position.
EDIT..... After looking in the gallery I think you might be near ooze lake somewhere, out for the day though so someone else take over from here.....
Mon 25 Jan, 2010 10:05 am
That will teach me for putting in a shot at the same time as posting a trip report/selection!
Though I thought the photos I posted didn't make it that obvious?
Anyway, Ooze Lake is just above the rocky plateau on the right, so it is just starting on the track over the slopes of Lake Mountain to Pindars - looking up the Picton River valley - Wylly, Victoria Cross & Bisdee lining the left side.
Making appearances at the rear are Mt Bobs and the Hartz mountains.
As ILUVSWTAS is out, anyone can post the next one.

Looks very familiar...
Should be plenty of clues in the photo for someone else to have a go.

Showing great restraint there Stu, I shouldn't publicise my trips so much, it does make choosing shots for this game rather difficult
Mon 25 Jan, 2010 2:11 pm
Gee its slow, no one has their THUMB on the pulse today?
Mon 25 Jan, 2010 3:57 pm
Too much twiddling of said digits me thinks.
I'm going out for the night so if things pick up and someone actually gets into the SADDLE and types this location, I'm sure everyone will be happy to see another purty picture.
Nighty night, heres another pic from the same location lookin' the other way.

Oh ok. Seeing as I was with you and things have slowed to a halt. Your in the saddle of the Thumbs. I imagine you took this shot while I was on the summit
