So - this might be easy. (I hope so as I will be away next 3 days)

You should try anywhere along the OT

Hey I've done some of it now! The section from Lake St Clair to the Shadow lake turn off at least....

There is talk of doing the OT one day via all the ranges and not ACTUALLY stepping foot on the highway known as the OT. This appeals to me much more!!

You would still have to cross it - but good luck to you if you do try.

This photo is not along the OT - but it is where we had a pronounced shift from light pads to a marked track.

Could be just to the west of the Pool of Siloam with Clumner Bluff in the background - but I would have thought Lake Salome would have been in view.

Just got home - will be off for next few days. Tasadam will keep an eye on it for me.

You are right about Clumner Bluff in the distance, but not the Pool of Siloam.
Pretty sure you cannot see Clumner Bluff from the track past Lake Salome

Standing in, or on the way up to Zion Gate, looking out over Zion Vale with Clumner Bluff in the distance.

This is of a place not commonly visited I would have thought.

I give some clues if no one is able to work it out.

If this helps

Its been over a day and no one has hazarded a guess, so its time to move on.

Its the little tarn just over the small ridge SE of Theresa Lagoon - Lina Tarn.

I'll see if I can find one a little less obscure...

Reminds me a bit of the creek flowing out of Chalice Lake, but it was a long time ago that I was there, so I'm not really confident.

I dont think It would be Chalice Lake, I remember hills down either side of the lake, steep on one side. I think it is definately in the WOJ area though

Robbo, did you go in along the Lake Anthony Track?

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

Is it Long Tarns looking to the Walls area

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

It is in the WOJ area, but its not Long Tarns...

My guess is you are near Three Arm Lake, possibly on the Chinamans Plains, and that is Mt Moriah to the north

Too far to the south...

hmm I cant make out that peak at the back. Is it in Zion Vale?

Getting closer pazzar, but not right. The peak in the background is Halls Buttress.

I thought that maybe your first photo was South over the small tarn just north of Ah Chees Lake - which would be in the valley beyond it.
But I have trouble placing your second photo.
Clearly you are now facing North West looking towards Solomon's Throne (was Halls Buttress) and the Temple and the ridge on the right is probably the Great Pine Tier.
But if you are now looking at Lake Sonya, the Great Pine Tier should be closer and obscuring the farther view.
Maybe the second photo is over Lake Solveig?

You are in the ball park now, Eggs. Close enough I think. The photo was taken on the Great Pine Tier looking over an unnamed lake towards Solomons Throne - as you rightly called it - and the Temple. I was standing at about GR 450 672.

Your go now...

Ok - thanks Robbo.

I did have a long look at my shot from Mt Jerusalem over that area and wondered about a rocky tarn on the top edge of the Pine Tier.
That would make the RHS ridge in your photo the one on the south side of Mt Jerusalem.

But I am curious - your first photo - was it on the Pine Tier as well - or was it Ah Chee Lake as I suggested?

This should be easyish - but you should name the interesting object in it as well - ah la "where's Wally" [Click on picture for a little more detail]

Yes that's right eggs we walked up the Pine Tire Plateau from Lake Fanny to Jaffa Gate a few years ago - very pleasant route into Walls as an alternative in fact.

The first one was of Lina Tarn, I think I mentioned this in an earlier post. I was exploring a there a few weeks ago, but didn't have time to check it out completely. I was wondering about going via this way to Bernes Valley or Lake Olive and further south sometime, but I suspect it is a bit scrubby looking at it on Google. There is a wonderful old pencil pine on the western tip of Lina Tarn that has survived the ravages fire which made the walk really worthwhile.

Cheers

I found the green roof of "Wally", centre right just behind the bigger water mass, if that helps anyone.

It helps me... I think it is Lake Nameless and the 'Wally' is Ironstone Hut. If this is the case, then the image is taken from Mt Ironstone?

TR

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

Mon 12 Apr, 2010 1:23 pm

That will do Robbo.

This would not be visible from the true top of Ironstone, but we were on the craggy bluff edge about 1 km to the south.
This view covers most of the route that we then took - from Ironstone Hut over 40 Lakes Peak just behind it, traversing through the saddle on the left below Turrana Heights before eventually exploring the Walls on the horizon.

Your turn again
[Note: I missed the fact that you had explained the first photo before posting the second  ]
