No bites yet, so clue time. I'm on a range heading to an Abel, and the peak in the 'mid-ground' also has a name, but it isn't an Abel.

since it remains unbitten, how about the Loddon Range? Church peak?

Yes, this is the Loddon Range. I think the true high point of Church Peak is behind me, but Ronald Cross is in shot.

It's clear that if you take the right steps you can see 3 abels in the middle ground. It shouldn't be too hard to work out where I am.

No, but they're in the picture

The three Abels are - from right to left - Mt Wright, Clear Hill, Stepped Hills. Wright being in front of Clear means you're north of them. I think Wylds or Darkes are the likeliest options.

It's not Cathedral (although you could see that from here) and the Overland is near 80km long, so I really need more detail.

I thought that was Stacks at the back, which would put you somewhere on the eastern side of Ben Lomond; maybe around the Knuckle or Sphinx Bluff?
