If it is, that doesn't help because I can't think of a spot on a popular track where you'd get that view of it. And if it isn't, that helps even less.

You're right, it isn't. Not humungously far away, though. I can see the likeness with Picton, but Picton isn't on the end of a long plateau.
The mid-ground Abel gets viewed by tourists from different angles.
