Mon 03 May, 2010 11:00 am
Thanks Bap, I did enjoy the walking through that area when I was up there a couple of years ago.
The next one then...
Mon 03 May, 2010 11:02 am
Gee the one on the right looks higher in that shot Stu.
Mon 03 May, 2010 11:08 am
Good thing we climbed them both then hey!
Mon 03 May, 2010 11:10 am
Hehe yeh when in doubt..... What a magic location this one is from!
Mon 03 May, 2010 11:44 am
You are trying to detect a 3m difference in height over the space of 300m ??
And what's with the naming convention?
- the List shows the name next to the lowest peak in this group of 4 - ie the other 3 peaks nearby are higher - but are not named?
Mon 03 May, 2010 11:46 am
Lots of unnamed peaks and ridges on this range. We passed several that could have been on the list, and a couple that are on the list are nothing more than a pile of rocks along a ridge.
I think these ones have a name due to their appearance and the way they stick up on the ridge like a pair of castles.

Are you on Citadel shelf looking across at The Citadel?
Mon 03 May, 2010 1:26 pm
Yup, spot on Bap.
A lovely camp site, especially with the beautiful weather we had for the whole walk

Since i'm sitting at work bored I'll go again.
You're in Big Gun Pass looking toward (southern sides of) Mt Massif, a magnificent area!!!
Mon 03 May, 2010 3:12 pm
I knew it was going to be to easy, go ahead Stu
Mon 03 May, 2010 3:42 pm
Is it Mt Snowy from Emily Tarn?
Mon 03 May, 2010 4:15 pm
This makes me think of somewhere around Mt Cuvier, but I cannot get it to match any profiles?
Mon 03 May, 2010 4:29 pm
Not Snowy.
Eggs is close...
edit (clue): I have posted in 'the game' before looking west from this exact location.edit 2: so sorry, should have checked, but I was looking due south in my last photo from this location.
Mon 03 May, 2010 5:15 pm
Well thanks for that.
I found a shot looking south and thought that can't be it!!
However, I am thinking it might have been a south shot from a report rather than the game?
My first draft response [which I deleted] was a small tarn south of Manfred looking back to Manfred?
Ahh - but its not Manfred proper - but Manfred junior to its west!! - that profile looks better.
Which makes this tarn high up the south side of Manfred rather than down in the saddle?
Mon 03 May, 2010 5:21 pm
Sorry about that, no excuses for being lost when in the office
My other photo appeared here:
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=2307&p=21337&hilit=manfred#p21337Yes, it's from the little hanging tarn on the southern slopes of Manfred looking back at Manfreds 'heel' or little Manfred (not sure if it has a formal name?).
Anyway, over to you...
Mon 03 May, 2010 5:31 pm
Yes - but the same shot is in this thread:
http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1702&p=14463&hilit=+manfred#p14263Next one? You might be able to pick up some man-made objects in this one..
Tue 04 May, 2010 8:12 am
Are you on Mt Murchison looking at Mt Read?
Tue 04 May, 2010 8:35 am
Are you looking at companion hill communication towers with St Valentines Peak in the background, not sure where your standing though if this is correct ?
Tue 04 May, 2010 9:12 am
Tastrekker has it - from Murchison to Read with Zeehan behind
Tue 04 May, 2010 4:43 pm
My apologies for forgetting about this since this morning... Bonus points here for naming the range. The general vicinity from which this was taken will be fine...
Tue 04 May, 2010 4:45 pm
No idea but a spectacular photo TT.
Dial Range from off the coast (Bass Strait)?
Tue 04 May, 2010 5:13 pm
