What a wonderful shot. I have one similar but in beautiful colours at sunset. It's strange to see such a contrast.
Regarding the ice, they did say they have never seen it before......

I think it must be from Western end of Schnells Ridge looking back at Scotts Peak etc
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 9:51 am
Not from Schnells - for that view see 2nd photo in
http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3418 - we were settling in for the night

Maybe from High Camp Hut then with a bit of zoom thrown in?
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 10:37 am
Yes stu
I have been there 3 times (must be a favourite spot for an interstater) and always love the setting.
This was from the small rocky outcrop just below the hut which is great for all around views.
And yes - there was some zoom in this.

Not the Hungry 'Hippo' mate...
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 12:08 pm
I took a lot of shots from High Camp that afternoon - you might remember this one (2nd photo) -
http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=774My photos of the Hippo don't look like this one - but the rock is definitely Southern Highlands
Perhaps this is approaching Mt Wylly with Victoria-Cross behind?
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 12:12 pm
Ah I think your right Eggs. I just looked at it very quickly and saw the rock similar to hill3 and thought VC was LaPerouse.
Well done.
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 12:20 pm
Right part of the state eggs & SW but both still wrong i'm afraid.
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 12:24 pm
Hmm not Wylly? I have no idea then....
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 1:04 pm
Perhaps its the Calf with Adamsons behind??
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 1:56 pm
stu's taking his time - but I have compared a photo of Adamsons from the Calf (Step-by-step's, not mine) and the profile matches exactly.
And now I am sure you can post the next one Mark - see

Fri 11 Jun, 2010 2:00 pm
Think Mark's right, returning from Mesa along the plateau to The Calf
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 2:12 pm
LOL - yes egss has the reference to back up Marks answer
The Calf & Adamsons as seen from the west returning from Mesa.
Over to you Mark...
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 3:02 pm
Thanks Stuart. Uncanny how similar to the Southern Ranges that looks.
Ok next one.

Fri 11 Jun, 2010 5:02 pm
Hehe yup, everybodys favourite!
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 6:50 pm
Would this be from your Mt Shaula trip? The picture being taken from the Arthur Plains
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 6:53 pm
Nope. This was on a daywalk, though it was borderline overnighter.....
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 7:20 pm
That sounds like a trip to Weld, but it doesn't look like Weld to me
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 7:37 pm
Nope. Weld is relatively straight forward.
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 9:27 pm
It looks like the plains to the east of mt Leillateah looking towards the southern ranges, if I'm right someone else can go as I'm going on a three day walk this weekend.
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 9:41 pm
Ah yes I think you may be right Bap, I have heard of this little adventure up to Leilateah, a little scrubby if I recall correctly. A very long day walk
Fri 11 Jun, 2010 11:56 pm
It looks a lot like Pokana Peak in the background, with Centre Star to the right, from the Stepped Hills somewhere?
