Edit - [I think it was Whangeahu Glacier. The one you mention appears to lead into Crater Lake - which is over the ridgeline]]

thats not where the glacier is, thers two off them running from the other side of the crater.

For the sake of variety here's one from Fiji. It doesn't really fit in a bushwalk category, but name the river or location:

That's it MickyB, the old Sigatoka Bridge which was partially washed away by floods in 2009. The newer/current bridge is behind me.

Thanks johnw.

This one definitely doesn't fit in a bushwalk category. Where in NZ is this and what is it's name?

thats not bushwalking when you're on a boat. BUT there is a walk nearby that you should be naming.....

Wayno isn't happy with this photo so I'll forfeit. Anyone can post the next.

The answer was Hole in the Rock (Bay of Islands)

Point of order :)

The rules to this game do not require that the photo is of a hiking destination.

First to guess the right location gets to post the next picture of a location somewhere in an A natural landscape (eg in a National Park) somewhere out of Australia.. Please to post a picture with a good quality skyline or with heaps of visual clues to allow players to work out where the picture was taken. A fast game is a fun game.

Players can ask questions and the picture owner can give clues.

Wayno posted: "thats not bushwalking when you're on a boat. BUT there is a walk nearby that you should be naming....."

I agree it is not a bushwalking photo, but it doesn't HAVE to be. There is no requirement to name a nearby walk either. Don't be too quick to chicken out of your turn and give up. The best protocol is to add clues if there are no guesses after half a day to keep the game running. Wayno is an active and good contributor to this game but don't think he's pushing you out of your turn, maybe he's pushing for clues so someone else can guess the photo, bet he knew where that rock arch was...

I think all the games are slowing right down at the moment.
The International one was most likely to focus mainly on NZ, and given the less frequent nature of such excursions, was highly likely to involve shots which are not "bushwalking" though they should mostly be of natural settings.
We just need a little more patience.
I knew what this was, as did Wayno and I suspect others would have as well - but jumping in won't necessarily encourage some others to contribute?

I do agree that some form of bushwalking should be involved which is why I forfeited. I was originally hesitant to post that photo and I never thought Wayno was trying to push me out my turn - he just confirmed my original thoughts (I probably worded my forfeiture badly so sorry Wayno if I offended)

I get the sense that it's more challenging to name that exotic (and possibly obscure) foreign location. As such, I'd suggest that the guidance should be one of nature/bushwalking/hiking themed, but a little leeway may be required to keep this thread alive and moving, especially when those commonly known locations have been exhausted.

I disagree. The photo was definitely within the documented rules. I agree with photohiker, eggs and GPS - just needs to be in a natural setting, and I agree there also needs to be more latitude with the international game otherwise it will struggle. The only reason I hadn't posted a guess was that I didn't know the location and hadn't yet found time to research it.

Thanks eggs. That looks like an interesting area to walk when I eventually visit NZ, but I wouldn't be doing the Cascade Saddle.

Hi John,

Could it be Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park.

Btw I did Cascade Saddle 12 months ago and in good weather it is quite safe and the views on top are as good as it gets well worth the effort to climb up.

Hi Tony, Nice to see you back online. Yes, upper Mariposa Grove in Yosemite NP. Worth the walk up the hill along various hiking trails to see many large Sequoias. The hut is a small museum/bookshop manned by volunteers. Thanks for the advice re Cascade Saddle, not sure when I'll get to NZ but it's on the plan.

Thanks John,

I have been very busy doing lots of road and MT Biking but still keeping an eye on what has been happening on BA.

This one is in South America, what country and location are these hikers huts.

Hi photohiker,

Peru is the correct country but the photo was not taken on or near the Inca Trail or Machu Picchu.

I give some hints.

This photo was taken at one of Peru's major tourist attractions and we had to go over a 4910m pass to get there.

That is correct MickyB it is Colca Canyon and the main attraction are the Condors, the photo above of the hikers huts is zoomed in a lot and gives a false perspective, below is a more realistic photo, the huts are in the center and at the bottom.
