I have friends who have done the Kepler, but we saw those peaks at the back from a boat trip across the lake.
We shall stay in NZ.

Pretty much.... this is the Razorback which links to the Round-the-Mountain track above North Egmont (not sure if it's called Tahurangi... I thought that was the radio site on the next spur over, also accessed from North Egmont, but might be wrong??). Holly Hut is a nice little spot.

The Razorback Ridge has Tahurangi on it according to the online topos.
Staying in NZ.

Yes eggs I took that pic not long after leaving Rifugio Bonatti, whilst doing the TMB -
Val Ferret - Courmayeur - Italy
Fri 29 May, 2015 8:24 pm
That's our goal in July..
But I got the wrong side of Courmayeur

Which way were you going from Bonatti? Clockwise or counter?
Fri 29 May, 2015 9:05 pm
I did it last June, perfect weather and amazing views. I did it clockwise.
Sat 30 May, 2015 9:45 am
Over to you eggs..
Sat 30 May, 2015 1:47 pm

North Is - obviously a short walk
Sun 31 May, 2015 7:50 pm
Perhaps Rangitoto Island summit walk?
Sun 31 May, 2015 8:20 pm
Your answer mentions what I am looking at, but I was not on the island..
Mon 01 Jun, 2015 5:15 am
given rangitoto is symetrical, and there are old gun emplacements on the land all around the island, its a hard one for people to guess if you havent stood at the exact same spot. i doubt anyone from aus will guess it if they havent stood at the exact spot, its a regular walking spot for me, im not going to answer, I think more photo clues are needed

We did not spend long in the area, so thanks for the information Wayno.
You should not feel too reluctant to answer local ones though. I suspect this comp will have to be mostly NZ anyway.
As requested - view in a different direction:

- North Head historical site - looking towards Mt Victoria/Takarunga with Auckland Harbour Bridge behind

I seem to get three possibilities for this location in Auckland (Devonport) - North Head Historic Reserve/Hauraki Gulf Maritime Park/Bay of Islands Maritime and Historic Park?

North Head is correct. Last shot is facing Mt Victoria/Takarunga with Auckland Harbour Bridge behind.

I am thinking Yosemite National Park(bit of a guess), but no idea what trail.
Tue 02 Jun, 2015 12:47 pm
It might be looking up the face of Half Dome.
Guinness Book of records has it as the tallest most vertical cliff in the world.
Tue 02 Jun, 2015 1:20 pm
Ddo they rate the famed Trango Towers in the same list? I thought the Pakistan location allowed for a two kilometre base jump?

Yes that's it eggs. Looking up at the massive face of Half Dome towering above Yosemite Valley. I was standing at or near Mirror Lake. This was around mid-May last year and the actual hike up Half Dome had not yet opened for the summer season (the summit cables were still down). Rises between 4,000 to 5,000 feet above the valley floor I think.
