Mt Tidbinbilla from Mt Domain?

Hi John,

Sorry not Mt Tidbinbilla and I am not on Mt Domain, the mountains that we are looking at are south west of Tinbinbilla and higher, I am much further south and looking north north west when I took the photo.

Thanks Tony, hopefully I'll get it this time, by process of elimination if nothing else . Mt Namadgi from Yankee Hat?

This is frustrating. I've been there, but it was some 15 months back, when I didn't have a camera, so all i can do is try to remember exactly where I walked.

To begin with, is that river the Goodradigbee?

Hi NNW,

The swamp is the start of the another river system east of the Goodradigbee river.

Too far east, the peaks are on the western ACT border

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Tue 29 Mar, 2011 5:24 pm

Given that Gudgenby is only one km inside the western border, that's a bit hard to work out, if the photo is taken inside the ACT.

Murray, or Kelly. They're the only peaks I hit in that period that weren't right on the border itself, and I'm pretty sure it's not Murray. Kelly?

Hi NNW,

You are so so close, it is not Mt Kelly, Mt Kelly is north of where I was standing, the peaks in the distance are in a NNW direction, I would consider Mt Kelly on the southern border.

I will give the next turn to NNW as she was so close.

The Mountain on the left in the distance is Mt Murray, the Peak just to the right of Murray is Bimberi Peak at 1913m the highest mountain in the ACT. I am standing just below the peak of Mt Scabby and the swamp in the forground is the start of the Cotter river which is Canberra's main water supply.

Your turn now NNW

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie) next turn

It has been 24 hours since NNW won the right to post the next photo, as she has not posted she has forfeited her turn, so if a member has a photo ready they can have the next turn.

OK, get this game going again.

Where am I, this one is in NSW (for a change) and should be an easy one.

Correct John, I thought it would be easy.

Thanks Tony, next one. I am at a trig point close to the summit of a mountain in NSW. What is the name of the mountain; bonus points for naming any other features in the photo.

Hi John,

I think you are on Kalkite Mountain, looking down on Lake Jindabyne where the Eucumbene river comes in and the little village of Kalkite.

Well done Tony, absolutely spot on. The actual summit is on a rock further back from the trig. A very interesting walk that I don't think is done too often, combining easy FT with a couple of kms off track. On the return we had an encounter with a group of wild brumbies. Over to you.

Thanks John,

I have not done the walk but have recently fished the Kalkite shores, so all I needed was a map.

This one is also in NSW and is where am I.
