NPWS has had the Golden Stairs and Federal Pass (between the Golden Stairs and Scenic World) closed for quite sometime, due to landslides etc. Just wondering if anyone knows actually how bad the damage is and whether (unofficially) either of them are they're still walkable? I'd like to get from Scenic World to Ruined Castle again and having done it many times, I'd be very surprised if it's impassible.
Thanks,

Scenic World to Ruined Castle (& Solitary loop) has reopened. I know people who did it a couple of weeks ago - they report its fine, but overgrown (with numerous starving leeches).
Golden Stairs remains closed.

I did Scenic World to Ruined Castle return on the weekend. They have done a great job with a path over the new landslide section ... its very easy walking now.
Scenic World to the bottom of the Golden Stairs is in great shape now...
And...Yes, I can confirm the track from bottom of the Golden Stairs to base of Ruined Castle, is overgrown and a lot of trees down.
There were certainly a lot of hungry leeches which enjoyed a ride on us!!!

As a side note, Mt Solitary, Federal Pass and Furber Stairs have been closed today by NPWS until at least Wednesday due to the intensive rain in the area today.
