I've visited all of the 22 claimed highest peaks above 2,000 metres except Jagungal, which remains elusive as it needs more time and planning due to its distance away and isolation. The others are achievable as day walks; many can be done in a day or less, or as a series, due to their close proximity.
Why would you want to 'do' Jag in one day????

vagrom wrote:Thanks Hoojar. That sounds interesting. A 130km loop of sorts with huts along the way is do-able for most and maybe a food top-up at the southern end.

So outside the Main Range and the 4 or so north of it there's just Stillwell and the Perishers ? Most would take a north to south, car to car I guess than face a possible hard weather return.

So the same distance as the OLT but a lot more exposed than just the Cradle start.

I think this is a public share of the map: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit? ... sp=sharing

The walk to which I refered is not a loop, it is a point to point (with a giant car shuffle). If I were going to do it as a loop I think I would start/finish at Munyang.

Pedantic, but Dicky Cooper isn't on that list?

There is quite a lot which is not on that map.
I would not trust it all by itself.

Agreed. As I mentioned previously I have come across several maps and lists over the years. Each claims to be definitive, and often each is slightly different. I think it depends upon how the author has defined the prominence requirement of a Peak.

If you type in Dicky Cooper Bogong and Dicky Cooper Creek it'll drop a pin marker on each spot. But it doesn't seem to regard it as peak worthy like the rest. Photos yes.

Odd, given that a) it's definitely over 2000m and b) it's more "peaky" than a lot of the others on the list. Must be a prominence thing (noting that it's more-or-less an extension of the rolling ground?)?

Not my map, but I found this online a few years ago. Someone shared their list of 31 Peaks (which includes Dicky Cooper Bogong), and their route to walk to them all.

Agreed Roger, a 3 or 4 day trip would be very nice but unfortunately that's the reason why I haven't done it yet.
Getting older and a number of health issues have made it difficult to do overnight trips, especially as I would also be solo.
Out and back in a day would at least get me there.

It can be done in the summer months as a long day walk, largely off track but mostly open with easy nav, from Snowy Plains area via Cesjacks Hut, Jag saddle etc.

Thanks WFBW, yes that could be another option. In any case it will probably be a while before I can get around to it.
