Multi-day hike suggestions for NSW/ACT

Mon 14 Sep, 2020 4:13 pm

Hi all

I'm doing some training with a friend and we need a multi-day hike (maximum of 3 days) around NSW/ACT over the October long-weekend. We would have loved to have been doing the Coast Track, but the campground obviously books out super early. Light-to-Light was another option, but I believe over half the track is closed due to bushfire damage. Ideally we'd be near the South coast somewhere as one of us needs to end up there on the Monday. We checked out the 6 Foot Track in the Blue Mountains, which looks amazing, but the idea of driving 4.5 hours to the coast after 3 days of hiking was not appealing. So much of Namadgi is closed, so a lot of that is out.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Haha, I probably should have mentioned I was just in the Budawangs over the weekend. Thank you for the suggestion though. We might end up going back if we can't find anywhere else suitable.

We were meant to be doing the Light to Light in early October. I rang parks and wildlife last week and it wont be open until November at the earliest

It's such a shame, isn't it? It would have been perfect for the amount of days/kms and location. I'll be keeping a close eye on it and potentially trying to do it as soon as it's open.

Where did you end up going? The red track in bungonia is worth it if you string it into camping down by the shoalhaven

We ended up doing sections 1-3 of the centenary trail, which sounded a little boring, but was glorious in the end. If you haven't stayed at Northern Border campground before, I'd highly recommend it.
