Mt Solitary loop closed- still walk?

Postby Astill » Thu 16 Feb, 2023 8:57 am

The section around the Ruined Castle is closed due to tree falls but some reviews on all trails say its fine to walk, but others say is CLOSED and appear to hate fun :D . Do you think it is still walkable or should I postpone. I plan on walking this weekend and doing it in 2 days and camping near the Kedumba River. Opinions on whether to go or not?

I would say go as far as the point of closure. Then evaluate it yourself, without worrying about what others have said.

You may decide to proceed, or you may decide to walk elsewhere. Either way, you should have a good day out because there's lots of interest around.

Officially closed.

Mount Solitary Route and Ruined Castle campground are closed due to subsidence.

You could ring them for confirmation. What penalties could be applied I don't know. Your choice.

It seems to be open again. No alerts on the npws site apart from the road being closed to cars still.

Yes Mt Solitary is open although you have to go via Ruined Castle.
