Gudgenby saddle conditions - Namadgi NP

Hey all.
I am planning a trip in a couple of weeks in Namadgi NP. We are looking at heading over the Gudgenby saddle from Frank & Jacks hut/ Old Boboyan Rd. We're not planning to go all the way to the summit, just crossing over the saddle to the west and linking up with the Sams creek firetrail and the Naas valley.
Has anyone been over the Gudgenby saddle? Any news on the regrowth and conditions?
Many thanks!
Damian

We went over in March 2022. According to John Evans site, there used to be a footpad up from the east side but we could find no sign of that pad, nor did the party just a bit ahead of us. Bush was not too bad at that time. You can probably find Sams Creek FT in parts, but it also had almost disappeared. Becomes more prominent closer to the junction with Nass but up near Mount Kelly, Sams Creek FT is pretty hard to find.

Was on Gudgenby Saddle a few weekends ago. Its ok. The saddle itself is fine. Its the NW side that can be a little overgrown. Still not something Id worry about.

Thanks Zapruda & Sandy.
Sandy, I think I read your write up of your recent trip over the saddle. It looked like a great trip.
Once we've crossed the saddle we are planning to head south east following Naas creek and camp near Lutons crutching shed. We are hoping to then link up with Waterholes trail and follow the northern part of the Settlers track back to Brayshaws and car shuffle back to Yankee Hat carpark if all goes to plan.
Thanks for the info.
Cheers.
Damian
