See here for information relating to closures. Closures only during aerial shooting.

Thanks for the update.
I'm thinking of hitting the Alpine NP in April (work & fitness permitting), before things get too chilly.
I want to walk around the BHP then, and it looks like that's not closed according to https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/places-to- ... ional-park info
The park will not be closed for this work.

The program will be carried out under strict conditions designed to ensure safe, effective, and humane practices are implemented. A suitably qualified and experienced contractor has been engaged to deliver the work.

Looks like Buller/Howitt region isn't affected. I think they did some aerial hunting there a few months after the fires.

It is actually quite a thoughtful closure when you look at the map. The Long Spur and Big River fire trail are still open. People can get to Bogong and CC hut. I do however feel much of the terrain on BHP is not conducive to aerial culling. Most of the slopes are heavily timbered. I would guess (from the evidence of the aerial trials) most of the work done will be on the more open areas. As the money for this relates to fire affected areas, I would suggest they can only shoot in those areas affected by fire in 2020.
