the Alpine by public transport

Hi!

Can anyone advise on getting to/from and around the Alpine region by public transport? There's got to be some bus lines etc.?
I'm interested in everywhere - i.e. will probably plan walks based on public transport availability.

Will be travelling from Melbourne. Are weekend public transport trips feasible at all in terms of scheduling etc.?

There's the Bright-Omeo bus which services Mt. Hotham area.
Any tips for Bogong, Buffalo, Stirling/Buller and the areas east of there and north of Licola?
