Hut or cabin south of Fiddlers Green on AAWT

Postby oyster_07 » Sat 30 Jan, 2016 3:42 pm

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any information regarding a hut or cabin, located at GR 454 356, approximately 1500m south of Fiddlers Green?

I have read that it has a water tank but have not found any other reference to it. I would like to confirm the presence and state of the tank in order to provide a source of water for an overnight in the area.

The structure is visible on Google Earth (with imagery from January 2014).

Thanks in advance for any information.

It's a replacement hut for one burnt some time ago. It was constructed by deer hunters, and half of it is open for use by the general public. Not sure about the tank. Don't remember one last time I was through but I don't tend to hang around huts.

Yes there is a tank although I didn't inspect to closely when I walked past - as another walker had described it to me and suggested that the tank was locked. Haven't verified though.

Thanks NNW & Scoha,
With help from another member I have confirmed there is an exterior rainwater tank with tap that is also connected to a tap inside. I too steer clear of huts, but the tank provides a water point.
Thanks.
